    I participated slightly with this group. There is a $20 due requirement annually. I did not realize that this is auto pay annually if they have your credit card. I haven’t participated in months and was caught by surprise that $20 renewal due was automatically taken from my account. I tried to contact the organizer because I found the platform hard to navigate and did not hear back from him. I have since left the group.

    The new company that runs meetup has ruined a great site! Outrageous cost for organizers and now charging members to have access to event information.

    Fees are now being charged when it used to be free and this is not at appealing of an app espescially when you live in a remote area where not much is happening.

    I really do enjoy Meetup. However within the last six months they have changed some of the things. For example it’s very irritating for the ad to keep on popping up about paying for the MU app. Then it also looks like all the new people that signed up takes two extra steps to see what they look like. Also I strongly believe people should have their pictures on for MU. Not just dog or a scenery, etc.

    I just tapped on the pictures on my meetup group to see who was coming. Instead of opening up to the group it opened up to another page; When I tried to tap out of the page it said it was upgrading my account. Feels like entrapment. I only go with one hiking group I like, I don’t need an upgrade if I have to pay money for it. The page didn’t say anything about what that meant. Unless it was just to upgrade the software, I don’t appreciate it. Of course, there’s no one to ask about what it is. I hope you mention payment before you charge anyone anything.

    With latest update, they sneakily handicapped the app behind paywall. Now seeing attendees, interests, join waitlist etc are paid features. Hardly anyone uses meetup now and this greed will turn off more people. Most, if not all of the users aren’t going to buy so it’s only intended to waste everyone’s time.

    I have no idea if this app is any good anymore as every time I try to login it gives me an unexpected error no matter how many times I removed and reinstall the app and reset my password.

    While still having both apps laggy - meetup and meetup for the orgs. No value for the users unless you are a company organizing some business-adjacent meetings.
